INTRODUCING LHOUETTE

The hero of the 'Post Urban Glamour' and 'Pop Maximalism'

We first discovered Lhouette through the art procurement and advisory partner of our Weybridge Showroom, The Wyecliffe Galleries. Founded over 15 years ago the gallery, led by sales director, Katia Hickmer Dacey is driven by one mission: to work with collectors and interior designers to deliver world class art no matter how ambitious the brief. Lhouette and particularly his most recent piece "Knight Nurse" is a direct realisation of this original mission.

Over the last ten years it's safe to say the meteoric rise of British artist Lhouette (Born Ciarán Robinson) has been nothing short of remarkable. Gaining his pseudonym from a series of works featuring a cast of striking yet subversive female silhouettes Lhouette is regarded as one of the United Kingdom's leading urban artists.

Artworks across Lhouette’s portfolio of landmark originals, deluxe hybrid editions and distinctive wall sculptures have been widely presented in galleries, museums and art fairs internationally, including the UK, USA and Hong Kong. Notable presentations include early works showcased at The Houses of Parliament as well as works hand selected for display at prestigious fine art auction house Christie’s, London.

Lhouette has been recognised by the BBC London News with a dedicated televised interview
surrounding his exhibition 'Post Urban Glamour' and he has also completed a 2-month artist residency at London's 45 Park Lane, having been chosen to exhibit by an art committee including such luminaries as Sir Peter Blake.

Intricately intertwining lowbrow pop culture iconography and mixed media into a distinct visually arresting collection, Lhouette’s work has won patrons and advocates such as Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas, the Dorchester Collection, Ronan and Storm Keating, and the world’s foremost designer of Formula One, engineering genius Adrian Newey OBE.

Lhouette and Wyecliffe lent his now iconic latest piece “Knight Nurse” to the Weybridge showroom for it to feature as part of the “Ultimate Zoom Backdrop”, a pithy creative campaign by Clive Christian Furniture and its partner Hatchards, the UK’s oldest bookstore and book procurer for the Queen, as the two strove to capture a curated moment in an unprecedented time in a generation.

The “Knight Nurse” painting, commissioned by Ronan Keating and his wife Storm, in order to feature in Ronan’s latest music video for new song, Little Thing Called Love is Lhouette’s artistic response to COVID-19. And the inspirational acts of philanthropy which were born out of this time.

When speaking on the piece, Katia Hickmer Dacey commented “’Knight Nurse’ will sit firmly amongst the landmark moments of authentic artistic accomplishment, capturing the zeitgeist of a year in which we have all been speaking a language punctuated by new terminology such as ‘lock down’ and ‘social distancing’.”

The artwork went on to sell at Sotheby’s for over £30,000 with all proceeds going to UNICEF.
