THE FLARE COLLECTION
Taking its name from the feature radial burst of Crown Cut Walnut veneer, the new freestanding Flare Collection continues our fidelity of considered design, quality materials and hand-crafted construction techniques.
Product Manager, Oliver Deadman discusses the process of designing the collection, from concept to creation.
Flare, a new collection of free-standing pieces was created following customer demand for additional pieces of furniture to support a room. This may be an existing client, who wants additional pieces to complement a wall panelled room, a client whose simply looking to dress a room with statement pieces or, for example, a yachting client, who until now has been unable to participate due to the weight of quality fitted cabinetry, so we set out to create an exquisite collection with uniting elements which complement as a family or singular statement pieces.
I believe luxury design thrives in the reading of the natural qualities of the palette and understanding how best to let them call out; it is this level of expertise and understanding that we bring to bear with all our furniture and can clearly be seen in The Flare Collection.
Crafted from rich Walnut timbers, there are a series of notable characteristics that unite these pieces such as the elegant dual display surfaces and heavy grain, Scottish leather detailing available in a rich choice of colours to suit every interior. Available in three profiles, with complementary dimensions and a shared footprint, our Flare Coffee Tables are designed to pair the Flare Mirrors offering a considered, reflective perspective on the room.
A key characteristic of this collection is the hand-pressed, decorative radial burst of finest American Crown Cut Walnut which gives the collection its name: the angled inlay is further echoed in the subtle taper featured in the hand-turned legs which are shaped and scaled to echo the flare of the veneer.
This linear precision coupled with the use of exotic natural materials provides a strong nod to Art Deco. These exacting principles continue to be desirable and relevant today as they were in the glamorous 1920s, however, by simplifying the physical detailing and emphasising decadence with beautiful grain formations we have provided balance to ensure the furniture is equally at home in a classic or contemporary environment.
Each piece of furniture is hand-crafted in our UK workshop. Dovetail drawer boxes are complemented by signature cabinetry jewellery consisting of an exterior brass turning with an antique steel patinaed lion head and each piece features an etched hallmark of authenticity as well as a brass signature badge.
