The 'Ultimate Zoom Backdrop'

Together, Clive Christian Furniture and Hatchards have curated the ultimate Zoom bookshelves backdrop. Combining master carpentry with the expertise and knowledge of the Hatchards team.

Established in 1797, Hatchards is London's oldest bookshop and has provided the solace of literature to over eight generations of customers.

Working in partnership, Hatchards has selected some 300 titles that make up the list of books that should be on our bookshelves in the wake of what has been a time of heightened humanitarian, economic and political upheaval. 

Exploring trends over the pandemic, Hatchards’ John Bax commented “We have here chosen many works which have stood the test of time as well as some of our favourites of recent years... We have found that there has been a greater demand than ever for Wodehouse since lockdown began, especially in the lovely Everyman editions – a desire for amusing escapism perfectly understandable. Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist and other sizable classics have also seen increased demand, as readers found themselves with more spare time to dedicate to books they have been meaning to read for a long time."

The bookshelves are finished in Cool Walnut and delightfully decorated by Metro Deco pilasters with feature brass inlay. Peppered throughout by pieces of o’bjet and small sculpture by luxury homeware and lifestyle supplier, Glancy Fawcett, the bookshelves showcase intricate pieces of glassware, small metal sculptures and bright turquoise ornaments that add further to the image.

Directly speaking of pandemic and the impact it has had, the left wall of the library is adorned by an explosive and thought-provoking piece of modern art by celebrated contemporary artist, Lhouette. The piece entitled “Knight Nurse” was consigned by Wyecliffe Galleries, who represent the artist.
