In conversation with Emma Lewis, Marketing Manager, Sub-Zero & Wolf UK & Europe

Clive Christian is proud to partner with Sub-Zero & Wolf, the industry-leading kitchen appliances company. From integrated coffee-making facilities in our dressing rooms to the professional-grade grilling equipment in our Garden Kitchen, Sub-Zero & Wolf appliances offer our clients cutting-edge cooking and refrigeration technology. Here, we sit down with Emma Lewis, the brand’s Marketing Manager for the UK and Europe, to find out more about Sub-Zero & Wolf’s heritage, craftsmanship and values.

How does Sub-Zero & Wolf embody craftsmanship in its work?

Sub-Zero & Wolf is renowned for superior-quality home appliances, from indoor and outdoor kitchens, to the home bar, gym and beyond – all products are meticulously crafted and expertly engineered using the highest-grade materials, bringing professional quality to the home. Handmade in the USA following a rigorous development and testing process, appliances are built to last (a total 22 years on average). For example, our Classic Refrigeration range is crafted using robust 304 stainless steel, hand-finished to give the appearance of one solid one solid structure – no rivets, screws or welds are visible on the exterior of any Sub-Zero unit.

Can you tell us more about the brand’s commitment to sustainability?

Continuous innovation has made Sub-Zero & Wolf’s appliances the most energy-efficient in the industry. Over 30 of our appliances have been awarded the Energy Star rating for outstanding energy efficiency, while the average Sub-Zero & Wolf product uses less electricity than a 75-watt light bulb. Each product also has an average lifespan of 22 years and is fully recyclable.

What does luxury mean at Sub-Zero & Wolf?

Our clients are often incredibly time poor, so for us, luxury means convenience. All our appliances are developed to optimise the storage of high-quality food and drink and remove the stress from everyday life - ultimately making the cooking experience more enjoyable. Our new Steam Oven range for example, has intuitive personalisation options including Convection, Slow Roast, Bread & Pastry, Proof, Sous Vide, Cleanse and Wellness – guaranteeing perfectly cooked meals every time. We are also constantly evolving our range to meet the demands of HNWI’s all over the world, for example we developed a slimmer, more streamline refrigeration range to suit the smaller kitchens aboard a yacht or private jet, and our Designer range allows our products to be seamlessly incorporated into any interior design scheme.

How does Sub-Zero & Wolf’s heritage influence the brand today?

Sub-Zero & Wolf was founded in 1945 by Westye Bakke, an engineer from Madison, Wisconsin. From introducing dual refrigeration – the original fridge-freezer – in 1955 to creating the first integrated fridge in partnership with celebrated architect Frank Lloyd-Wright, where Sub-Zero & Wolf has led, our competitors have followed. Still family owned and run to this day, innovation remains at the heart of what we do and we are continually looking for new ways to deliver truly cutting-edge technology to the market.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement at Sub-Zero & Wolf?

There are too many to mention, but our commitment to launching new appliances is something to be proud of. Never standing still or becoming complacent, always looking ahead through innovation and technology. This has kept us industry-leading. With a fantastic team at the forefront of Sub-Zero & Wolf UK, we feel proud of our journey to date and are well equipped to continue moving forward.

What does it mean to partner with Clive Christian?

We have worked with Clive Christian now for many years, watching them grow and innovate through countless luxury brands and craftsmanship in their furniture. From the very start we knew our appliances had a firm place within their cabinetry. The exceptional attention to detail and quality goes hand in hand with our products, creating something really special. (i.e. The Garden Kitchen design is a perfect example of this partnership).

What’s your favourite Clive Christian collection?

For me, the Garden Kitchen really stands out as a masterpiece. The mix of craftmanship and luxury is only one part of this design; the kitchen layout and functional details have been highly considered both methodically and aesthetically. Crafted using the processes, materials and techniques behind some of the greatest yachts in the world, the Garden Kitchen is a true showstopper and statement piece for any home.

What’s your favourite London restaurant?

We love De Mario, whom we have firmed up a great partnership over the years, hosting clients from near and far there. The Italian food is wholesome and we’ve always felt the quality has been exceptional.
