Interior Design Trends for 2023 with Alexander James Interiors

Serving private clients, property developers and commercial partners who value a different approach, Alexander James Interiors is one of the leading interior design houses in the UK and has been recognised as one of the top 100 in the world - and we can say from first-hand experience that we agree. With that in mind, we caught up with the Alexander James Interiors team to discover the top interior design trends we can expect to see emerging in 2023. Keep reading to find out more.

Warm Metals and Stone Accents are here to stay

While warm metal tones such as copper, age brass and rose gold have become a trend extraordinaire over the recent years in contemporary design, we anticipate these warming metals to be a reoccurring trend for 2023, but with a new textural element coming through - think earth-inspired textures and shapes and finishes expressing what we can see in nature today. These playful takes will take centre stage in the kitchen with splashbacks and kitchen islands becoming bolder and more adventurous, perfectly paired with matching ironmongery throughout the rest of the space.

To complement these warming metals, stone accents will be used to create a sleek and clean look throughout the home.

The Return of Art Deco

More decorative trends, like Art Deco, are making a roaring comeback and we are very much ready for it.

Art Deco is short for the French Arts Décoratifs and is a style of visual arts, architecture, furniture, textiles and fashion that first appeared in France in the 1910s, and flourished in the US and Europe during the 1920s and 1930s.

Today, the return of the award-winning Battersea Power Station is set to influence the design industry, giving a great nod to the A Station’s control room with its many Art Deco fittings, alongside Turbine Hall A, which has been restored to its Art Deco splendour. At its peak, Battersea was supplying a fifth of London’s electricity and now it becomes London's most exquisite new destination.

We can certainly expect to see a fruitful mix of geometric shapes and bold colours with glamorous lighting and luxurious fabrics to excite our designers in 2023, alongside super fun powder baths, and exquisite spaces designed for hosting, entertaining and gathering. Let your inner Great Gatsby go wild!

 Striking lighting

A fundamental part of any project, which often is left under-considered in design, is set to have a striking turn in 2023. Inspired by the leading shows every year in Paris, Milan and London, our designers noted many celebrating the classic chandelier but with a new modern twist - which here at Alexander James Interiors, we love to see, as there’s nothing quite like a bold and unique centrepiece to bring a room to life. Whether it’s over a dining table or in a large entrance hall,  a striking pendant can elevate the space and become the jewel of the design. So for 2023, we are excited to see bright, bold and beautiful decorative lighting which can fit a multitude of settings.

Stephanie Jones, Senior Designer at Alexander James Interiors says:

“There are many new lighting trends emerging which encompass nature and the outdoors showcasing wonderful textures and glass droplets which works hand in hand with providing our clients with sustainable products, as this is at the heart of design at the moment.”
