Steeped in history and grandeur, this luxurious seven-bedroom Victorian country house and family home is situated in the exclusive ‘golden valley’ of Hambledon Village, just outside of Henley on Thames. 

Surrounded by tranquility and blessed with rolling views of forest land, the impressive family home craved an uplifting redesign. The client called on Clive Christian Furniture to reimagine the space for grand but relaxed 21st Century family living.

The building’s impressive façade and statement interiors informed the renovation process with Clive Christian Furniture combining the original main bedroom, bathroom and guest room to create a beautifully reimagined master suite complete with a dressing room and en suite.

A dramatic Drummonds copper bathtub became the ultimate focal point, complementing the ‘his and hers’ vanity units and Christopher Hyde chandeliers and transforming the space into a serene haven. The bathroom was also opened up and raised for optimal garden views, with a large mirror installed to the back to reflect and create the illusion of additional space.

Gently echoing the shape of the roll-top bath, the dressing room demonstrates Clive Christian Furniture at its best, with tall fluted pilasters, frieze volutes and dentil cornice enhancing the feel of splendour.

Meanwhile, bespoke ‘his and hers’ wardrobe cabinetry painted in pale grey with walnut interiors perfectly complements the curved central dressing island that’s elegantly topped with San Marino white marble – all hand sourced by Pan’s Lodge.
